Learning to love myself

By | Uncategorised | No Comments

🎀🎀BODY POSITIVE SATURDAY🎀🎀

This week I’ve been on abit of a self hate mission and I’ve realised I’ve been quite mean to myself.
I’m three stone heavier than I want to be and when I look in the mirror I hate what I see, the thing is I know exactly what to do about it… But I find it so hard to act on those things. But why?! I’m a personal trainer, it should be easy?

Because my mindset isn’t there I’m trying to do to much and be too much to too many people at once. I want a successful business, a social life, family time and personal time. And structuring those things into my week is sometimes impossible.

I’m so quick to kick myself when I’m down and forget the bigger picture. I should give myself a massive thumbs up for everything I have achieved at 27. But i don’t. It’s never enough.
When will it be enough?

Well this morning I woke up and decided ENOUGH. I am going to learn to love myself again for everything I am today, not what I was last year and not what I want to be in the future.

Every lump, bump, cellulite and stretch mark.
Every pimple, freckle and bits of eczema.
Why?
Because we only live once and I am amazing and incredible in so many ways so I need to remember that.

So here’s to all you ladies.
Today is body confidence saturday.

I want you all to tell me something about you you usually despise but are now going to learn to love, embrace and share with the world?!?

Adult Acne

By | Uncategorised | No Comments

Next week I am doing something TERRIFYING and super empowering all at once.
I am going to be in the national press with some pictures of me with a bare face, no make up what so ever!!
For you guys that have followed me for a while your probably used to seeing my make up free selfies but let me give you some back story……

Over the last week I’ve been contributing to a skin positivity movement about us accepting our skin and embracing it.
The last 6 months I’ve pretty much stopped wearing make up unless it’s a special occasion or I’m off somewhere fancy. I have struggled with my skin since my early 20s from super violent breakouts on my face and back. It’s been horrendous and I have tried every remedy, every antibiotic, every tip online. It messed with my mental health, my anxiety, my stress and the drugs my physical health. It’s a whirlwind and I felt disgusting.

It’s really hard being a personal trainer and working in an industry with how you look being so important and having such bad skin – many people think bad skin is an indicator of a bad lifestyle, a bad diet, I assure you at my fittest and healthiest my skin was actually at it’s worse. Funny really?

Over the last year or so and not really intentionally I’ve slowly stopped wearing make up and decided to embrace my skin, for its flaws, it’s spots, pimples, redness and scars. I’ve stopped trying to hide it and I feel empowered and better for it. In fact my skin is so much better for not having products put on it everyday. I’ve gone from using a bottle of foundation every 2 weeks so not purchasing one in 2 months. Below is some pictures of how bad it’s been at it’s worse and how it’s been at it’s best. There’s such stigma about adult acne and I hate we feel we have to hide it.
So here we go…. I’m embracing mine, so much so I’m going to be make up free in a magazine.
What can you do do embrace yours? Do you struggle with your skin?
What’s the craziest thing you’ve tried to help it?

Wish me luck ❤❤😍😍

Self Care Sunday

🌈🌈SELF CARE SUNDAY🌈🌈
Hello, my name is Lucy and I’ve been managing my anxiety since I was about 16 years old. I remember my first panic attack like it was yesterday, I was on the phone to my mum discussing the limo we had booked for my prom when all of a sudden I couldn’t breathe, my chest hurt, the room started spinning and I thought I was going to vom. At the time I had no idea what was wrong with me, but in the 10 years following I’ve learnt that anxiety is a part of me. I get anxious and when I’m not anxious I get anxious about why I’m not anxious. The hardest part of being a mega girl boss is that everybody constantly thinks I have my shit together……
I’ll let you into a little secret….. I DO NOT.

I cry atleast 5 times a week, I refuse to ask for help because I’m stubborn and then have a meltdown because my to do list is too long which in turn effects my physical health and my mental health. I get frustrated because I have no time for me but yet I am my own boss and make no time for me. In 2018 I have decided to change all of that though and my two main things I’ve decided to do.

1. Be selfish
2. Ask for help
3. Learn to say no
4. Tell people when I am not ok

I can’t tell you how much implementation of these 4 things have helped me navigate this year with a calm less stressful mind and a more productive workload. Don’t get me wrong I beat myself up most days but actually in the scheme of things me being less uptight has made everything around me better.

Weekends are so self-love, there for lazy mornings in bed with my mister appreciating the fact we don’t see each other all week, listening to music, chatting, reading.
There for brunch and adventures, seeing friends, drinking whiskey, playing board games, watching a bazillion episodes of criminal minds because we never get to watch any tv. It’s the little walks in the park, a long hot shower, drinking a hot cup of tea. Sorting laundry and getting stuff done that use it be a chore but enjoying it. They are for planning the week ahead, how can I be productive, what will I eat to make me feel good, when can I exercise, when can I see those I love.

Practising better self care, has not only made me better, it’s made my relationships better, my business better and my life better.

So tell me, what self care do you practice?
If none, try this week to do one thing for you and see how it makes you feel. Whether it’s 20 mins of a book, painting your nails, planning the week ahead. What can you do to make time for you? So you can be the best you?

I really wish more of us stood up and screamed…..

I NEED HELP
IM NOT COPING VERY WELL TODAY
TODAY IS AN ANXIOUS DAY

If less of us tried to hide our anxiety, if we let the world know it’s then easier to deal with, trust me I’m putting this post out to 9000 of you……….. ❤️❤️

So tell me, what’s your best self care recommendation? And how do you deal with your anxiety?

Health benefits of walking

By | Uncategorised | No Comments

Most of you know I work a lot of hours in a week with 5.20am starts and 9pm finishes and I have found the long hours of being a personal trainer as just part of the job. (It’s a good job I love it) but I constantly get asked where I find time for my own exercise and I must admit sometimes it’s hard, more than hard in fact. It’s so easy for me to motivate others and less so to motivate myself but one form of exercise that I do find to fit in my day and weekends is walking. I live so close the peak district and one of my favourite weekend activities is to be outdoors with my love exploring the hills.

There are a lot of good reasons to go for a walk. It’s fun, it’s relaxing, and most important it’s good for your health. But what exactly are the health benefits of walking? I hope this blog posts convinces you that heading out for a walk is a great idea and that it motivates you to start a walking schedule.

Walking Gets You Outside In The Fresh Air and Sunshine

No matter how fast or slow you walk, walking gets you outside and in the fresh air. This alone will make you feel better as your body absorbs the oxygen and sunshine. Both are important for your health and well-being.

You will find the air quality outside, particularly if you go for a walk on the beach or in a park, will be much better than the air inside your house. Of course, the sunshine outside will help your body product all the Vitamin D it needs.

Walking Can Help You Get To And Maintain A Healthy Weight

Walking particularly at a quick pace and doing it regularly can help you get to and then maintain a healthy weight. Yes, you still need to watch what you eat and aim for a healthy diet, but walking can be another tool to help you drop those extra pounds.

The nice thing about walking when you’re overweight is that you burn a lot of calories, even on short and slow walks, simply because you’re carrying so much weight around with you. As you start to lose the weight, your overall strength and endurance increases, allowing you to walk longer, further, and faster.

Walking Improves Your Sense Of Balance And Coordination

As you walk, particularly when walking over rougher terrain, you’re also working on your sense of balance and coordination. Just getting in the habit of going for a daily walk will help. But you can work even more on your sense of balance by moving your head around. Turn your head to the right and left as you walk for a count of 30. Then move your head up and down for a count of 30. If you do these simple exercises once or twice as you walk each day you’ll get even more benefit.

Walking Strengthens Your Bones and Muscles

Even though walking is a low impact form of exercise it helps to strengthen and tone your body. If you’re just starting out, it is all you need to start to get into better shape. As you get more fit, consider adding weight lifting exercises in addition to your daily walks to continue to get stronger and help develop strong muscles and bones.

Walking Will Boost Your Mood and Fight Depression

Last but not least, the exercise of walking releases endorphins that will help lift your mood and can even reduce depression. Give it a try. The next time you’re feeling tired or are in a bad mood, lace up your sneakers and go for a brisk walk. It works like a charm.

So tell me, when was the last time you went for a hike or a walk? And when will you be doing so again?

Stop Negative Thinking

By | Uncategorised | No Comments

You think thousands of thoughts each day. You talk to yourself more than anyone else. You are your most trusted advisor and confidant. Many of the conversations that you have with yourself you would never share with anyone else because to do so would expose the “real” you. The you that is filled with self-doubt, worries, sadness, guilt, hurts and disappointments.

But this is not the “real you” at all. This is the you that your ego and belief systems have constructed. These negative beliefs have been constructed by you, and accepted by you as truth. The sad thing is that nothing can be further from the truth.

Where did these false ideas about you originate? They mostly came from others; parents, teachers, co-workers, and friends. They might have planted the seed by saying something like “she is fat” and you have cultivated those comments to the point that they have become your truth.

You are allowing your entire life to be controlled by some obscure comments made years ago. Nobody has the right or power to dictate who you are. Only you know who you truly are and what’s in your heart.

When you were born you entered this world without the burdens of you current negative belief system. You entered this world as a beautiful bundle of joy filled with unlimited potential and possibilities.

I’m here to tell you that you have not changed. You are still and will always be a beautiful bundle of joy with unlimited potential and possibilities.

The only difference is what you give your attention to. Let me ask you a question. If you stopped all the negative talk that you currently have with yourself such as;

– I’m too fat

– Why would anyone want to love me

– I will never be thin

– I always fail

And the list can go on and on… How would you feel ? Do you think that you would feel emotionally lighter ?

Do you think that you would feel happier ?

Do you think that you would feel more confident ?

Now how do you think your life would change if you were to go one step further and modify your self talk by only speaking positively about yourself. If you take some time and focus on what you like about yourself and focus on only that your emotional state will become positive to the point that you will be able to accomplish anything.

Once you begin looking for the positive things within you, you will be surprised to realize your magnificence has always been there just below the surface. You have never been anything other then that shining bundle of joy that entered the world years ago. It’s easy to uncover positive aspects of yourself by asking some questions.

– What am I good at?

– Who has benefited by me being in the world?

– Who am I, what is in my heart that only I know?

– What do I like about my body?

Your goal is to feel good now. How do you feel now? If you only observe what you feel is positive about you, you will feel good, you will be happy. Decide right here and right now how you want to feel. Decide that you will always look for the good within you and appreciate that goodness.

So what does all of this have to do with losing weight? Everything!!! Your emotional state is the control valve that determines what you draw into your experience. How you talk to yourself creates your beliefs and programs your subconscious. So you need to ask yourself do you want your beliefs and subconscious programming to be based on false negative thinking. Or do you want your beliefs to be based on the truth, that you are and always have been a perfect being.

Begin today to love and nurture yourself. Allow the joy, playfulness and enthusiasm that you naturally had as a child begin to flow into your everyday experiences. Allow yourself to celebrate each and every success no matter how small. Love and appreciate yourself every opportunity you have. Do this everyday and watch your weight begin to dissolve just as your old negative beliefs about yourself begin to dissolve.
